Quality Dog Food The veterinarian I used to work for always recommended either Hills Science Diet or Purina Pro Plan for just about any dog regardless of dietary needs. Purina Pro Plan was not readily available at the time of adopting my dog Peach, so I went with Hills Science Diet and their Adult 1-6 kibble. It’s a bit more expensive than your average kibble you’d buy from a big name brand at the store, but definitely cheaper than doing some specialty feed like Ollie or Farmer’s Dog. Peach seems to enjoy it and readily eats it when I set it out for her. Its hard to find something negative about this kibble. That being said, the serving sizes on the bag are a little too generous: when I adopted Peach, she was a 39 pound pit mix who was underweight with ribs and muscle glaring out. After having her on the recommended feeding amount for roughly 3 months, she ballooned up to a little more than healthy 67 pounds. She’s not fat by any means, but she’s got a lil bit of cute chunk that I would’ve watched out for had I known it was too much food. All and all, I think this is a great option for when you want to feed your dog a quality kibble that isn’t trash like the cheap bags you get at the store, but at the same aren’t spending an arm and a leg every month on some ridiculous dog food subscription where you feed them exotic meats and ancient grains.
